Description: Pictured here are four people doing laundry outside of their home. Like many arpilleras, the Andes and a shining sun have a prominent position in the scene, and this arpillera has wonderful embroidery work that adds details such as flowers and the fence. While arpilleras in Augustana’s collection depict human rights violations during the military dictatorship, this artist chose to immortalize a happy memory of everyday life in Chile.
